During the 18th meeting of the CIVEX commission, which took place in Brussels on 11 April 2018, members adopted opinions on the European Commission's Action Plan to support the protection of public spaces and on the contribution of local and regional authorities to Eastern Partnership deliverables for 2020.

In addition, as part of the "Reflecting on Europe" process, CIVEX members held a debate with Ms Valérie Gomez-Bassac, member of the French National Assembly's Commission for European Affairs and rapporteur for the Information Report on the democratic conventions for re-building Europe, recently launched by French President Emmanuel Macron. During the debate, member of the Scottish Parliament Ms Mairi Angela Gougeon argued that BREXIT has made people in the UK reflect on and evaluate the importance of Europe in their lives and regretted that it had not been communicated more and better in the past.
