​On 16 November CIVEX commission paid tribute to the victims of Paris Terrorist attacks and decided to focus future work on enhancing the capacities of local and regional authorities to prevent radicalisation and counter terrorist threats and violent extremism.
 
The commission's members adopted the work programme for 2016 which also lists migration, the refugee crisis and the future of Europe as priorities.
 
"Policing, preventing radicalization, ensuring the integration of third country nationals, providing care to victims are within the remits of local governments and it is important the COR provides its input to achieve better coordination between the different level of governments in order to tackle the challenges Europe is facing", added Stewart Maxwell, EA group acting political coordinator for this meeting.   
 
During the meeting CIVEX Commission debated the report dealing with the enlargement countries.
