On 23 March CoR members debated in the Plenary Session on the future budget of the EU post 2020 in the presence of Jan Olbricht MEP.

Marie Antoinette Maupertuis, EA Group political coordinator in the COTER commission and member of the executive Council of Corsica regional authority said that "while we understand new means will have to be found to finance new priorities, we cannot expect the EU to improve its perception towards the citizens and at the same time undermining the policies that are mostly visible to them such as cohesion policy and common agricultural policy".

We call for the future cohesion policy to cover all regions and to place greater attention on peripheral areas such as islands that in order to reap benefit of the single market, need better accessibility, connectivity, transport and digital infrastructure.

We would like the future EU budget to continue promoting solidarity and balanced development across all EU regions" she concluded.
