The Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) is a permanent, joint assembly which represents the local and regional dimension in the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

It brings together 84 local and regional representatives from the EU and the Mediterranean partners, and ensures the participation of regional and local authorities in the Euro-Mediterranean political debate.

It also brings the territorial dimension of projects selected by the Secretariat-General of the UfM and ensures the exchange of best practices. ARLEM has observer status in the UfM and participates regularly in Senior Officials Meetings.

ARLEM is Co-Chaired by the President of the Committee of the Regions, Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso (EPP/Spain), and the Governor of Giza, Ali Abd El Rahman (Egypt).  

The ECOTER Commission for Economic, Social and Territorial Affairs

Competences: Immigration and integration; Cultural cooperation; Decentralisation; Equal opportunities, human rights; Small and medium-sized enterprises, Commerce; Information society; Urban affairs

Presided by Lütfü Savas (Turkey) and Peter Bossman (Slovenia).

EPP members include: Martina Krogmann (Germany), Eleni Loucaides (Cyprus), José Macario Correia (Portugal), Malcolm Mifsud (Malta), Vladimir Kissiov (Bulgaria), Luc Van den Brande (Belgium), Grigorios Zafiropoulos (Greece) and Carlos Pinto (Portugal)

The SUDEV Commission for Sustainable Development

Competences: Energy; Waste management; Local water management; Tourism; Transport and mobility; Agriculture; Environment; Sustainable development 

Presidend by Hani Al-Hayek (Palestine) and Michel Vauzelle (France).

EPP members of SUDEV include: Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso (Spain), Jacques Blanc (France), Gyorgy Gemesi (Hungary) and Michel Lebrun (Belgium).
