75 local and regional television journalists came from all over Europe to attend the EPP Group in the Committee of the Region's 7th Summer University for local and regional media on 5-7 June 2012.
Opening the meeting, Michael Schneider, President of the EPP Group, explained that local and regional television journalists are important elements of communicating Europe. "Local and regional television has the possibility to quickly turn political decisions and proposals into stories that focus on the impact and day-to-day reality of people. Moreover, you speak in a language that our citizens understand. With the European Year of Citizenship in 2013 and the European elections one year later, we are committed to supporting you in your work and helping you to get the message of Europe across."
Following visits to the European Commission and European Parliament and debates with colleagues and EU officials working on European communication issues, the participating journalists made concrete recommendations on how to facilitate media relations.
