Cllr Brian Meaney, Clare County Council and member of the European Alliance group told Commissioner for Regional Policy Mr Hahn, that innovation must be at the heart of regional policy and that this should not only be confined to the areas of Structural Funding.  There needs to be a move towards policies which also encourage strong regional economic strategies which also complement the national strategies to ensure that our regions are competitive in an ever globalising world.
