On 21 November 2019, ENVE Members attended the last ENVE commission meeting of the mandate. The last, but not the least because members still had a tough agenda ahead of them. They discussed among others how to ensure that the needs of sub-municipal levels are taken into account when developing and implementing EU environmental policies, in order to have more sustainability also for neighbourhoods and small communities. Moreover, members had a profound debate on the outlook of the new Green Deal. ENVE-coordinator for the EA-Group Cllr. Andrew Cooper took the floor calling for the importance of having local and regional authorities more involved in any future green initiative. The CoR ENVE-commission and its members are currently taking the lead in the writing of an important resolution on the new Green Deal reflecting many key issues to be taken into account and how forthcoming initiatives can be developed in close partnership with local and regional authorities.
