EA Bureau Members in Levoča, Slovakia to discuss engaging youth in the democratic life and local cultural heritage

​On the invitation of Mr Miloslav Repaskỳ, Member of the Regional Parliament of Prešov, on 7-8 September 2022, the EA Bureau Members gathered in Levoča, Slovakia to attend a study visit on Engaging with young generation in the democratic life and Local Dialogue on Youth and the Future of Europe.

The EA Members had the opportunity to discuss with the citizens the cultural and historical importance of small cities and how best engage with young generation in the democratic life.

Mr Repaskỳ, Member of the Committee of the Regions said that he is happy to see the representatives from so many countries understand and want to engage with citizens to be stronger for the future of European Union. "It is a good opportunity to hear the people from Levocia, my city, which I represent at the Committee. During this difficult times for all of us we can't abandon our values our countries and our communities" – he added.

During his introductive speech for Local Dialogue Mr Karl Vanlouwe, EA Group President said that in front of the actual crises and the war "We have to acknowledge that the European values, as listed in the Treaties and as we know them today are very important. In order for the youth to actively and widely share their ideas and experiences they must be guaranteed that it will produce tangible results. In the short term, we must ensure that that we turn citizen feedback into policy and actively promoting the youth participation, be that through schools, social media or traditional channels."
