In view of the upcoming Climate change Convention talks in urban, the CoR has approved during the 12 October plenary session a resolution which calls for an internationally binding agreement and renews the EU commitment for ambitious targets and actions to achieve the 2 degrees temperature decrease to limit global warming.
In the resolution it is pointed out that goals can only be achieved if emission reductions are fairly distributed across the whole of the international community.

The CoR welcomes that recognition has been given to the role of the LRAs in tacking climate change but it stresses the importance for every State to provide sub national governments with the necessary financial means.
