​On 8 October, as part of this year's Open Days of Regions and Cities, the European Alliance group will organise a workshop "Creative tourism development: creating jobs across Europe's regions". The workshop will aim to explore how a creative and sustainable approach to tourism can boost economic growth and create jobs in Europe's regions, but also how active participation of tourists in the preservation and enhancement of European regional heritage can contribute to European integration and provide numerous economic, cultural and environmental benefits.
Participants will include EU institutions, representatives of Local and Regional government across Europe, interest groups as well members of the European Alliance group.  Speakers include:

• Mr John Theodore, Director of the International Tourism Centre, Manchester Metropolitan University
• Ms. Carol Gleeson, Project Manager, Burren Initiative, County Clare, Ireland
• Assoc. Prof. Peter Dorčák, PhD - Slovak Marketing Association
