European Week of Regions and Cities: Maupertuis showcases Cohesion Policy's success in Corsica

On 10 October, the President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), Vasco Cordeiro and the EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira, opened the 20th European Week of Regions and Cities, together with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. The key role of the EU's cohesion policy in tackling the challenges facing the Union was at the heart of the opening debate, held in the European Parliament's hemicycle, with the participation of hundreds of regional and local representatives.

During this high-level session, Nanette Maupertuis, Vice President of the Corsican Assembly and EA Group VicePresident presented some Cohesion Policy success stories in Corsica.

While pointing out the particular characteristic of Corsica, a mountainous island, Ms Maupertuis, highlighted the benefits of the construction of Aldilonda, a walkway over the sea connecting two parts of the city of Bastia, promoting sustainable mobility and improving the quality of life of citizens.
