ENVE members adopted on 28 June the opinion on the Energy Roamap 2050 which aims to achieve the low-carbon 2050 objectives while improving Europe's competitiveness and security of supply and recalls the importance of ensuring an energy mix between all the available sources.
The debate on the 7th Environmental Action Programme and on better implementation of EU environmental law clearly showed the relevance of the subject for local and regional authorities since they suffer negative consequences, in particular extra costs, when legislation implementation is delayed or inadequate.
Members also discussed the outcome of the World Summit on Sustainable Development Rio+20 as well as the thematic strategy on soil, an highly disputed dossier, still blocked in the Council by a few Member States.
