On 15 June in Dubrovnik, Cllr. Mrs Linda Gillham, member of Runnymede Council and President of the CoR-Croatia joint consultative committee chaired the first meeting of the committee which aims at helping Croatian local authorities in the EU accession process

During the meeting the members expressed their willingness to cooperate in a wide range of topics and clearly spoke on their expectations. Cllr. Mrs Gillham said the CoR members are ready to support the Croatians counterparts in their decentralisation process by providing them with examples of good practises while going through the most problematic issues and difficulties, which do not exempt EU countries either. Croatia is undergoing an uneasy decentralization process affecting the definition of the territorial structures and which has clear influence on the financing of local and regional authorities in Croatia.
