On 20 April, the EA Group member and Mayor of Morawica,
Mr Buras took part in the 6th annual meeting of the EGTC platform. Discussion was focused on the current Schengen crisis and its impact on cross-border cooperation. Currently, Schengen faces several challenges generated by a rising number of asylum-seekers, security concerns and fragile economic recovery. The costs associated with the suspension of Schengen were pointed out, stressing the negative impact for border regions in particular.
During the event the European Commission introduced to members the cross-border review, which aims to recognize cross-border obstacles and to propose possible solutions.
The award ceremony to the EGTC "Building Europe across Borders" generating growth and jobs for the hospital of Cerdanya closed the event.
