At the ECOS commission of the 16th May 2014 Mr Krochmal, Councillor of Wołów City and Commune was allocated an opinion on the Communication on Long-Term Financing of the European Economy. This Communication aims to improve long-term financing of the EU economy, by proposing actions aiming to: (i) mobilize private sources of long-term financing, (ii) make better use of public finance, (iii) develop capital markets, (iv) improve SMEs’ access to financing, (v) attract private finance to infrastructure, and (vi) enhance the overall environment for sustainable finance. This Communication introduces new elements and is described as "building upon" the consultation of the Green Paper on long-term financing on which the CoR produced an opinion last year (Rapporteur: Mr Silberg. Opinion adopted in October 2013).

The ECOS meeting was focused on the discussion on the structural reforms of EU Banks and transparency in shadow banking, labour mobility, and homelessness strategy, as well as on the discussion on the contribution of the ECOS commission to the to the Draft resolution on the proposal of the Committee of the Regions for the new European Commission, new European Parliament and European Council presidency.

During the meeting the round table on the LRAs aspects of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (an agreement on trade between the European Union and the United States) was also organised.
