On 10 July COTER Commission held its meeting in the town of Fabriano in the Marche Region, Italy, which is widely known for the hand-made paper produced since the 13th century.

There was a discussion and adoption of an COTER opinion on mobility in challenged regions.  Members also discussed current disparities and territorial divide in regional development within the Member States as well as on the role of macro-regional strategies, especially focussing on the Adriatic-Ionian macro-strategy,that sees the Marche region taking the lead, and the new Alpine macro-regional strategy.

The recently appointed EA political coordinator, Mr Stanislaw Szwabski underlined the importance of macro regional strategies  as innovative models for promoting economic and sustainable development in a geographical region where LRAs can take the lead and work on tangible projects aimed to tackle common challenges.
