​On 31 January, Nanette Maupertuis, Presidency of the Assembly of Corsica, intervened at the CoR Plenary tribute to Jacques Delors.

Speaking on behalf of the EA Group, Ms Maupertuis highlighted that on 10 March 1994, at the inaugural session of the Committee of the Regions, Jacques Delors stressed the importance of cohesion, subsidiarity, the involvement of local governments and decentralisation. These principles continue to guide us today , she said.

"As we approach the renewal of the European Parliament and we debate on the future of cohesion policy, it is imperative that we keep this spirit in mind. If we are to guarantee the fundamental principle of cohesion within our continent, we must be aware of the importance of shaping a policy tailored to each territory, where solidarity and unity remain at its core.

Today we give tribute to a statesman whose vision has shaped the Europe we know today. Thank you, Jacques Delors, for placing local participation at the heart of the EU project" said Ms Maupertuis.
