On Saturday 19 November Cllr Kieran McCarthy was one of the lead organisers in a lively City Debate held in UCC. The panel included Minister for Europe Dara Murphy TD and President of the European Committee of the Regions Markku Markkula.
Participants highlighted the need to engage Local Government more in the European Union; the need to communicate the EU better. Many questions were raised on urban and rural policy.
Cllr McCarthy said he was delighted to host the first City dialogue in Cork and hoped that this would the beginning of real an meaningful dialogue with local authorities and citizens.
