At the CoR plenary this week Commissioner Neelie Kroes who is responsible for the Digital Agenda, outlined steps to maximise the economic and social benefits of information technology. "This can only be done in cooperation with local and regional authorities and I would be delighted about the Committee of the Regions being part of the European Digital Agenda Governance Cycle".

Cllr Brian Meaney on behalf of the EA group asked the commissioner to outline tangible goals, look after the details in the technology which helps make these goals a reality and also make sure that the new information technology is available to rural areas, also those who may not have adequate access to the technology.
