Mr Bronius Markauskas appointed CoR rapporteur on Sustainable Blue Economy and Aquaculture

​​​​​​​​​​During the NAT meeting which took place online on 20 May, members agreed to appoint Mr Bronius Markauskas, EA member and Mayor of Klaipėda district municipality (Lithuania) as the rapporteur on the opinion on sustainable EU blue economy and aquaculture. A sustainable blue economy is essential to achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal and ensuring a green and inclusive recovery from the pandemic.


​During the meeting, members adopted the opinion on Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and the Council on the resilience of critical entities and the opinion on the New Consumer Agenda – Strengthening consumer resilience for sustainable recovery. Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and later, the Organic Farming were also discussed. Mr Dariusz Strugala, European Alliance coordinator for the NAT commission warned that without a deeper reform of the CAP and without the inclusion of tangible objectives obliging the member states to act, the European Union will not see the necessary progress.​
