On 15 October, the Montenegrin municipality of Tivat hosted the 13th meeting of the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) European Committee of the Regions - Montenegro.
Together with the Head of EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ambassador Aivo Orav, and representatives of Montenegrin local authorities, CoR members discussed recent developments in EU-Montenegro relations, financing, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure and the role of the manufacturing industry in the local economic development.
In addition, members had an opportunity to visit new infrastructural developments in Tivat which aim to boost the municipality's potential in elite tourism.
EA Group was represented by Dr Uno Silberg, member of the Kose Municipality Council who, in addressing the panel, particularly insisted on the importance of de-politicization and reform of public administration, giving the example of Estonia where public administration is almost 100% professional.
This was the last meeting of the JCC Montenegro in the current CoR mandate. The next meeting will take place in Brussels in the spring of 2020.
