Mr Szwabski while addressing the June Plenary session of the CoR, in the context of the reform of the EU Internal Market, said that single market is not just about financial services, banks and derivatives. Single market entails social rights, affects citizens' welfare and, when it is well functioning, it significantly improves their lives. He also suggested Commissioner Barnier, to come up with a proposal on universal service on electronic communication and broad band access. This is extremely important for rural areas which suffer from the distance from urban centres.
