​During a CoR bureau debate on the forthcoming Swedish Presidency beginning in January, in the presence of Torbjörn Haak, Deputy Permanent Representative of Sweden to the EU, the EA Group President Karl Vanlouwe highlighted the need to continue the work supporting Ukraine and its people in the face of the terrible war caused by the Russian Federation.  He also highlighted the need to take action on the energy crisis and in particular the effect on the citizens with the increasing cost of living which is impacting so many.  Climate change should also include a 'blue deal' including action to combat drought and forest fires which raged in Europe during the summer.  Lastly he asked for more focus on cyber-security given the increasing cyber-attacks across Europe - our public and private sectors as well as individual citizens need to be protected.
