Winners of the last edition of the EA/CoR Secondary Schools
Competition participated in the European Committee of the Regions plenary
session held in Brussels on the 12-13 July.
The 12th edition of the competition took place in
Estonia, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Scotland and Slovakia, and
involved pupils aged between 14-18 years. The first stage of the competition
was a multiple choice test that assessed the pupils' knowledge on the European
Union and the EU institutions, while the second one was to write an essay on
the role of young people for the future success of the EU.
Pupils from each participating school with the best results
in both stages participated in a three-day study trip to Brussels on the 11-13th
July 2017. A total of 21 students and teachers participated. They met the
current President and the 1st Vice President of the CoR, Mr Markku
Markkula and Mr Karl-Heinz Lambertz, as well as the members of the European
Alliance group.
