​​​​​On 7 June, President of the EA group, Mr Stanisław Szwabski led a delegation of EA members who took part in the Commission for Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and EU Budget (COTER) seminar on cross-border cooperation projects held in Ispra, Italy.

The participants discussed key elements which enable the success of cross-border cooperation with a particular focus on transport and trans-European mobility.

The discussions highlighted the importance of TEN-T links with local and regional networks and looked into solutions to facilitate cross-border projects.

The members also had the opportunity to visit the Alptransit Ceneri Base tunnel project, a 15 km long railway route, which will become operational in 2020. This project could be considered as example of progress made towards the objective of INTERREG Italy -Switzerland project.

In addition to Mr Szwabski, EA members who took part in the meeting include Ms Gillian Ford (London Borough of Havering, UK), Mr Kieran McCarthy (Cork City Council, Ireland), Mr Marc Hendrickx (Flemish Parliament, Flanders), Mr Uno Silberg (Kose Municipality, Estonia), Mr Tadeusz Truskolaski (City of Białystok, Poland) and Mr Józef Kotyś (Opolskie Regional Assembly, Poland).
