During NAT commission meeting members nominated Mr. Banaszak, European Allinace Group coordinator, as Rapporteur on the communication Blue Growth: sustainable growth from oceans, seas and coasts. The potential of Europe's oceans, seas and coasts for jobs and growth is significant, if the appropriate investments and research are made. Growth in the blue economy offers new and innovative ways to help steer the EU out of its current economic crisis. It also represents the maritime dimension of the Europe 2020 strategy.
They also endorsed the proposal of EA member, Mr Zagunis, for an external meeting and seminar on "Challenges for local and regional authorities in the implementation of rural development policy under the new multiannual financial framework", in Kaunas / Dotnuva, Lithuania, in the beginning of Lithuanian Presidency in 2013.
The NAT members also appointed a new chair of the Commission, Mr René Souchon.
