Clare County Councillor Brian Meaney will participate on 1st of June in the meeting of the CoR Western Balkans Working group. CoR members will focus on the state of play of EU relations with Bosnia. The issue of decentralisation and sub national governance is likely to be touched upon. Bosnia – Herzegovina, which is still under international control, is composed by two different entities (Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska). Many problems lie in the weaknesses of central institutions and different organisation of powers between the two entities. Persisting problems such as corruption, lack of capacity building and sentiments of separation makes the path to the EU extremely difficult and tortuous.
