On 1 June Marc Hendrickx, member of the EA Group and of the Flemish Parliament participated in the meeting of the Western Balkans Working group in the context of the CoR Enlargement Days.
Members discussed the recent developments and involvement of local and regional authorities of Albania, Kosovo and Bosnia Herzegovina in the EU accession process.
The focus of the debate was on the necessary reforms the countries have to carry out in order to meet the criteria for opening EU accession negotiations and how these impact on local authorities.
During the meeting the crucial importance was highlighted of cross border cooperation projects to promote economic and social development and enhance dialogue and partnership while sharing experiences.
