On 26 June 2019 the CoR Plenary unanimously adopted the opinion "Towards a comprehensive EU framework on endocrine disruptors", drafted by Dr Uno Silberg, European Alliance and Kose Municipality Council member. The opinion covered the incredibly important topic of endocrine disruptors and the threat they pose to human health, giving a fresh perspective on an issue that has existed for a long time.  It is recommended that the EU's approach to it is updated as fast as possible. Furthermore, progress is required towards reducing exposure to these dangerous chemicals and the treatment of endocrine disrupting chemicals must be harmonised. Whilst there might be conflict between citizen's health and business, it is crucial that EU citizen's health takes precedence.

Endocrine disruptors have a devastating long-term impact not only on human health but also on fauna and flora. While their presence is widespread, there is very little public awareness of the risks they pose. We need action to raise public awareness and coordinated measures at all levels to give priority to the health of citizens, while at the same time taking into account the interests of consumers and industry", stressed Mr Silberg, the Leader of Kose Municipal Council.
