EDUC commission held its meeting on 22 November, during which members focused their discussions on the European Research Area Partnership (ERA), the potential of cloud computing in Europe, International Cooperation in Research and Innovation and the Capital of Culture.

Mrs Daiva Matoniene, EA political coordinatior for the meeting said that "A key aim for ERA is also to reduce the "brain drain", notably from weaker regions, as well as encourage a wide regional variation in research and innovation performance, aiming at excellence across the Union through smart specialisation. Local and regional authorities (LRA) need to establish European and/or regional organisation plans to promote research and innovation and increase their socio-economic impact".
