EA member, Daiva Matonienė participated on 28 October in the second meeting of the Economic and Territorial (ECOTER) commission of the assembly of local and regional authorities of the Mediterranean (ARLEM).

The members discussed over problems related to over population in the Mediterranean, especially in coastal areas, and its negative consequences on the sustainable development of the region. High pollution level, environmental damages, lack of transport networks, illegal housing, waste management are all matters of serious concern.

During the next ARLEM plenary session, taking place in Agadir (Morocco) on 29 January 2011 a report drafted by Khalid Al Hnaifat, mayor of Greater Tafilah (Jordania) will be adopted.
