EA group members discuss the priorities of the Eastern Partnership

On Tuesday the 25th of January European Alliance Group members held a discussion with Máté Csicsai, Eastern Partnership coordination at the European Commission who began by introducing the geopolitical context of the Eastern Partnership.  It is important that the EU exports stability rather than import instability.
An update of the very worrying situation on the Ukrainian border was discussed by members as was the migration crisis on the border with Belarus.
Mr Emil Drăghici raised the situation of Moldova, where the Local Congress of Mayors would like to have closer contact with the CoR. He also raised the issue of Moldovan inhabitants who are Romanian citizens and as such hold an EU passport. This group accounts for half of the Moldovan population, while the majority of Mayors are also EU passport holders and Mr Drăghici hopes that the EU can work towards engaging with Moldova more in the future.
