On the initiative of Cllr Andrew Cooper, EA Group political coordinator the ENVE commission has adopted by overwhelming majority a statement highlighting that "lack of action on climate change by a large country like the United States could negate the positive impact of much of the climate change mitigation work that EU Local and Regional Authorities are engaged in. In the light of the Memorandum of Understanding between the US Conference of Mayors and the Committee of the Regions, the ENVE Commission calls on the US Conference of Mayors to determine their reaction to the incoming US federal administration’s attitude while reaffirming the importance of positive local and regional action on climate change in the United States as well as in the EU"

During the meeting members adopted the CoR draft opinion on the legislative proposals for a new Effort Sharing decision and on LULUCF and discussed at length the Energy winter package as well the implementation of Natura Directives.
