A  proposal of Mr Roger Knox, Member of East Lothian Council, EA Group coordinator for EDUC Commission to organize the meeting of the Commission and the seminar in Edinburgh on: "Social inclusion in education and sport" was endorsed today during the meeting. "It will be an opportunity for the EDUC commission members to visit the campus of Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, which has been built according to the EU guidelines on integrated sustainability, and for academics and politicians to discuss the way in which this has benefited the ethos and work of the academic community and the civic community beyond it. The university has also recently awarded an honorary doctorate to the promoter and creator of "Street Football" for the homeless and economically deprived as a spin-off from Scotland’s 2007 victory in the Homeless World Cup" - Mr Knox said after the meeting. "The aim of this conference is to study how the idea of street football was transformed into reality and has become an activity throughout many parts of Scotland, involving many young men and women who would otherwise not be involved in physical activity or  in social  life" he added.
