During the European Summit of Regions and Cities in Marseille Cllr Enda Stenson made a passionate plea to increase investment in rural communities to make them more attractive to live and work. Connectivity in both digital investment as well as transport must be improved. It is easier to invest and reap the return on investment in cities but long term we must be more innovative and serve all the territories of Europe including our rural communities.
He further reinforced the need to share experiences of development of rural areas and also the creation of a European Rural capitals programme to promote best practices.
