Cllr Declan McDonnell, Galway City, welcomed the report on Strengthening the EU-UK relationship at the subnational level and remedying the territorial impact of the UK's withdrawal from the EU but called for an increase of cooperation between universities in the UK and the EU. The young people need to have a hope of enhanced cooperation to make up for the huge mistake of BREXIT. He also called for local government to enhance cooperation and build on the Interreg and twinning projects which have delivered such great results in the past.
In a debate on democracy and integrity of elections József Kóbor, Pécs City Council focused on the need for more transparency in election processes as well as a call for action against foreign meddling in elections whether they are local, regional, national or European. Finally, Cllr Kieran McCarthy asked for the young people to have more opportunities to give their views as to the future of Europe.
