Mr Krochmal took part on 7th June in a meeting of the CoR-FYROM Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) in Stip (FYROM) where members discussed about the recent developments in the country as well as about the actions that FYROM needs to pursue in order to meet the requirements for EU accession.

Mr Krochmal said that, if FYROM is to progress in the accession talks, it needs to empower local and regional authorities with adequate capacity and means that will help the country in setting up efficient local management structures. This is key for FYROM when it will come to implementing EU regional development policies and programmes. Secondly he pointed out that a solution has to be found with regard to the name dispute since the deadlock contributes to the slow down of the negotiation talks but this is an issue which needs solving bilaterally.
