"Please keep in mind that not only technical aspects of sustainable tourism are important. It matters also to preserve cultural heritage of touristic regions – said Mr Stanislaw Szwabski, European Alliance member on 16 January 2013 during the fourth Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly's commission for sustainable development (SUDEV) meeting held in Brussels. This time representatives of cities and regions in the EU and its Mediterranean partner countries discussed renewable energy policy and sustainable tourism in the region of Mediterranean Sea.

Mr Szwabski, who was representing European Alliance together with Mr Brian Meaney, welcomed a draft report by Michèle Sabban on sustainable tourism in Mediterranean and her suggestions for further development and perseverance of environment. Furthermore he was the first one to raise the matter of cultural heritage protection during the debate triggered after report presentation. Apart from sustainable tourism matters, commission members discussed sustainable development and energy in the Mediterranean.
