On 11 October 2016, on the occasion of the plenary session of the Committee of the Regions the Members of Conference of Presidents of the Committee had the opportunity to hold a debate with Mr Donald Tusk, President of the European Council. The debate focused on the current challenges of the EU.  Mr Stanisław Szwabski, Councillor of the City of Gdynia and the Chair of EA Group participate in the meeting.

 

In his statement, he stressed the clear objectives for EU such as security and prosperity in the European regions, for the benefit of all their citizens. He also focused on enhancing the European cultural prosperity, a richness of which all Europeans have the right to be proud of. 

 

He also added that the EU's high representatives should now find the solution on how to face the growing populism and anti-European feelings in the European Union.
