Mr Stanisław Szwabski, Councillor of Gdynia City, Co-Chair of the CoR's JCC with Montenegro met today Ms Anneliese Dodds, Chair of the European Parliament Delegation to Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee.

The talks focused on the current situation of Montenegro as a candidate country to the European Union and cooperation with representatives of the country at different levels and in many areas.   During the conversation it future cooperation was also agreed  between the two bodies and the coordination of the cooperation with Montenegro.

Mr Szwabski said: "Our partners in Montenegro should feel that the accession process is continuing and has not slowed down. They need to see that the focus is on quality not on speed, and on tangible results, but at the same time that no artificial time barriers are erected. We have to make sure that our partners in the enlargement countries keep up their interest in the EU and motivation to achieve progress in the necessary reforms, in particular in relation to chapters on the rule of law and fundamental rights, and on justice, freedom and security. The actual state of preparedness and the progress made have to be taken into account."
