On 6 April the CIVEX commission discussed about the White paper of the European Commission and the Future of the EU in the presence of Mr Kasel, representative of President Juncker cabinet and DG communication Director Mr Landabaso.

The COR will define in its position through an opinion drafted by its President and Vice President.
The EA Group coordinator in the CIVEX commission and member of the Flemish Parliament, Karl Vanlouwe, indicated the position of the BENELUX countries and their preference for a scenario which would allow Member States and regions (the so called coalition of the willing) to do more if they so wish.

President Szwabski underlined the importance after the Rome Summit for the member States to turn desire and commitment into action and that unity and solidarity between member States will be the key to success.

He also pointed out that subsidiarity should not be a theoretical model and the principle needs to be rolled out at all levels to ensure decisions are taken at the closest level possible to citizens.

The CIVEX commission discussed the opinion on Erasmus for local and regional representatives and also adopted an opinion on the migration in the Central Mediterranean Route and on the European action for sustainability.
