​On 29 June EP REGI and CoR COTER committees held a joint hearing on the implementation of the Urban Agenda in the European Parliament. Through pilot partnerships, European cities have joined forces with national, regional governments as well as the EU institutions to address challenges such as migration, air quality, fight against poverty and housing and will present soon their action plans.

Debating with experts from the cities who outlined the activities of their partnerships, members stressed the importance to ensure coordination among different policies that have an impact on urban areas and to involve also smaller scale cities and municipalities.The EA member Mikel Irujo Amezaga reaffirmed the commitment of the region of Navarra in the energy efficiency pilot partnership and called for a greater coordination of EU initiatives notably on circular economy, environment and air quality.

"Navarra is actively involved in a series of initiatives and ready to highly contribute to their success at local level. Nevertheless in order for the citizens to better understand their benefits, more synergies and coordination are necessary," he added.
