The CIVEX commission adopted today the Work Programme of the commission for 2015 and discussed future priorities.

The EA Group political coordinator in the CIVEX commission and member of the Flemish Parliament underlined that Subsidiarity, as well as migration and security issues should be prioritized. When it comes to Subsidiarity, Mr Karl Vanlouwe pointed out during his speech that "we don't have to look only at the relations between the EU and the Member States but also between the EU and national/regional parliaments", and that "the mechanism of "early warning" to the European Commission needs to be adjusted in order to give regional parliaments a greater role in ensuring EU legislation is in compliance with the principle of subsidiarity". He continued, "The EU initiatives should be closely monitored to make sure that EU legislation benefits the citizens and meets their expectations."

During the meeting the CIVEX members adopted the opinions on the enlargement strategy 2014-2015 and on the post 2015 framework for EU development policy as well as an own initiative opinion on regional support for fair trade.
